The Lodge is just 50 ft. from the water and the dock where your guide will meet you each day.  There are six comfortable, air conditioned, ocean view rooms.  The rooms are nicely appointed and each has two twin beds for a wonderful, relaxing nights sleep, a full bath with tub, large dressers, spacious closets and convenient lighted night stands.  All guest rooms have  27” color televisions with Direct TV® access.  Daily maid service is provided.

Meals are hearty and well prepared.  Breakfasts normally consist of eggs, pancakes, style french toast, bacon or sausage with potatoes, and tea or coffee, or perhaps waking up to Eggs Benedict gets your attention, just ask!  Lunch is normally served while fishing and includes sandwiches with either ham, tuna fish, or turkey served on home baked bread.  (Normally cut rather large!).  Dinner features local Bahamian and original dishes. You can expect conch salad, conch fritters along with a variety of freshly caught fish each day.  The lodge also serves chicken, chops, steak, and lobster depending on the season. Desserts are what legends are made of …. enjoy!

Barraterre Bonefish Lodge offers its guests “Unlimited Fishing.  More accurately stated this is "unlimited guided fishing", not just the ability to go out wading on your own.
You can literally fish as many hours as you'd like with a professional guide. The fishing begins at whatever time you’d like to start, and finishes until whatever time you’d like to finish during daylight hours.

Barraterre Bonefish Lodge will plan your meals around your fishing schedule.  The  only requirement is that you clear your fishing schedule with the lodge manager the day before.

Flats fishing at Barraterre is a mere 10 to 30 minutes away from the lodge on board one of our new 16’custom built skiffs powered by 40 HP Nissan engines.  We cut short transit times and increase your time on the water.

All skiffs have nice size casting platforms and excellent rod storage. Guides pole from a platform in order to spot tailing fish.

The 25 square mile fishing area of Barraterre Bonefish Lodge consists of approximately 80% wading on hard bottom flats, mangrove, and creek areas with names such as Glass Cay, Square Rock Cay, Black Cay, and Pudding Point.

You can expect to see bonefish in the 3 to 4 pound range with several chances to cast to the 6 and 7 pound fish.  Permit, Tarpon, Jacks, and muttons and a variety of other species are waiting for you at Barraterre also.  Boat fishing for permit is in an area just northwest of Barraterre.
The Brigantine Cays offer the challenge of hooking up with good sized permit … If you dare!  Perhaps a chance at a “Grand Slam”! (Catching a permit, tarpon and bonefish in one day).
Barraterre has excellent wading flats and the majority of the fishing is done on foot.  There are also numerous protected mangrove flats where poling the skiff is preferred by the guides.  Tarpon are sometimes seen cruising across the deeper flats and they’re big.  Huge barracudas haunt these flats and seem to have no other purpose in life but to attack your fly.
Another exciting feature of Barraterre Bonefish Lodge is fly fishing from the skiff for 100 lb plus spinner sharks.  These predators are very aggressive on the fly and make for a great alternative.
The experienced guide staff of Ceaphas Maycock, Phillip Maycock, and Dave Thomas will put you on fish and are eager to assist you.  Your guide will wash your tackle in fresh water at the end of each fishing day, store them safely overnight, and deliver them to the boat the next morning.

Suggested Fly-fishing tackle:
Fly rods in the 7 to 9 weight class, from 9' to 10' in length, will cover most fishing situations.  Reels should have a smooth drag system, as well as a capacity for at least 150 yards of backing plus the fly line.  Floating fly lines with a 9' tapered leader and 8 or 10 pound tippets are suggested.  On very calm days, or when stalking larger singles, it might be necessary to use longer leaders.

Suggested Spin-fishing tackle:
Spinning rods should be 6½ to 7 feet in length, and of medium action.  Reels designed with a smooth drag system should be capable of handling no less than 150 yards of 8 to 10 pound test mono.  Although most 1/5 oz. lures, like the #200 millies jig work well, it's a good idea to have an assortment of jigs in brown, white, and pink.
